Overview

This project wasn't just about showcasing Balky's work – it was about capturing the essence of modern web design through motion. The reel demonstrates how static designs evolve into living, breathing interfaces, highlighting Balky's unique approach to digital craftsmanship.

Project Objective

The goal was to create a minute long motion reel that showcases Balky Studio's creativity, technical prowess, and design philosophy while delivering top notch projects for clients.

Initial Ideation

The concept for the reel was inspired by the idea of creating short-form showcase videos of Balky's previous works, which were then combined into a one-minute reel. We began by planning the motion design and aligning on the overall goal using the collaboration tool know as Notion.

Research and Inspiration

We dedicated considerable time to studying motion reels from leading studios to understand what made them effective. Additionally, we mapped out the key elements to highlight in the reel, ensuring it would stand out.

Narrative Structure

For the reel's introduction, we designed an eye-catching opener featuring a glitch effect on the Balky logo, enhanced with kinetic typography to set the tone. We also carefully planned the project sequence and designed a compelling ending that highlights the collaborators the studio has worked with.

Tools and Techniques

I primarily used After Effects to create the reel, as it allowed me to work more efficiently and quickly. For inspiration, I relied on platforms like Arena and Instagram to gather ideas.

Here is a series of motion pieces I created for individual projects, which were later combined to design an engaging and cohesive reel.
